The storyline is based on a Hollywood template that seems like a rejected Blumhouse film. The film is littered with scenes that appear to be leftovers from earlier draughts of the script and lead nowhere. In one shot, Betriek is seen standing close to a toddler in a hospital elevator. The youngster says something unexpected to her: “She never died” (which may refer to her deceased grandmother). This youngster does not appear again in the film, and there is no explanation as to why this child is aware of the local tale of Feike.
